Overview:
The 2025 assessment of right to information came just over a decade after the adoption of Sierra Leone’s Right to Access Information Act, 2013, which is a quite strong right to information law.Overall, Sierra Leone achieved a good grade.Sierra Leone obtained good (green) grades in each assessment area, except Proactive Disclosure, which received a yellow grade. However, the score for the Reactive Disclosure assessment area was, at .67, barely in the green category due to the poor performance of four of the eleven public authorities which were assessed. The report highlights a number of areas where Sierra Leone’s performance could be further strengthened and makes a number of concrete recommendations for further improvement.
